Let's be totally honest here:  kids are, by far, the best thing roaming this planet (everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right?)  Their positivity and desire to seek out happiness comes naturally to them and it's incredible to be around them and bask in their sparkly glow.   

That said, we hope you enjoy every second of seeing your children happy as they run around holiday parties, open presents and soak up every compliment from family and friends telling them undeniably adorable they are.  

So enjoy whatever you celebrate and let's wish for a much-needed peaceful 2009.

Rock star attire a MUST!  Okay, maybe not a must, but definitely encouraged in the strongest way possible.

We'll have the Merry Horn Players of the Forest, things that glow and fly, flashing lights, an energetic Princess, a guitar-crazy race car driver, a Wheel of Rock and more!  Oh, the Highline will have it's kitchen/bar open, so if you want to make an afternoon of it, you can because doors open at 11 am.

Princess Katie & Racer Steve's "Kiddie Rockers Unite" CD/DVD Drive A Huge Success

This evening Racer Steve and I, along with Crash and Space performed for the ultra cute kids at the Ronald McDonald House here in NYC.  The Ronald McDonald House is an incredible place, offering families a way to stay together in a comfortable environment while their children get treatment for serious illnesses.

A few months ago I had asked kiddie musicians and people within the industry if they would like to donate some CDs/DVDs for me to give out at my hospital performances and at this event at The Ronald McDonald House.  Well, they did give and very, very generously if I might add.  

It's hard to explain what it feels like when you're performing for children who are dealing with life-threatening illnesses.  Their energy is low, their faces pained.  Now imagine having the incredible power to light up those little, beautiful faces by offering the music of these artists.  I was able to do this tonight because of the generosity of these kiddie rockers and industry insiders.  

After our performance, we were invited up to the dining room where I announced to all the kids and their parents how these musicians would have loved to perform for them, but figured the next best thing would be to give their music to them.  As I went from child to child giving out the cds and a copy of our new dvd with it, you can't imagine how psyched they were.  I'd like to thank everyone who donated their art to such truly deserving little kids.

School Library Journal Review of Fast & Feisty!

Singer/Songwriter Katie O'Sullivan and her partner, Steve Borne, once again don their alternate personalities - Princess Katie & Racer Steve --- to entertain with ten original songs that cover topics from the holidays to hide and seek to sharing.  

Each fun, upbeat song features lyrics that are spot on and teaches an important lesson.  For example, "Looking for Trouble" is about the importance of being kind to your siblings, and "We Dress Ourselves" celebrates the joy children experience when picking out their own clothing. 

This excellent album spotlights a wonderful variety of musical styles including reggae, big band, and rock n' roll.  Katie's voice is rich and cabaret ready with comparisons to Natalie Merchant being inevitable.  Four skits interspersed among the songs are cute and stand alone nicely, but they would have worked even better if they were used as segues into the songs.    Princess Katie and Racer Steve are performers that every child and parent should get to know.  This fantastic album is a must-have for every children's collection.

Kiddie Rock Musicians! Let's band together!

Hi fellow kiddie rockers!

One of the things our band enjoys doing is performing for kids in hospitals or for underprivileged kids.  We have 3 concerts coming up at the NYU Medical Center (in October - but we visit every few months) and one at the Ronald McDonald House (in December).   I was thinking that it would be great for these kids to be able to leave these events with music or, if we don't get enough, we would be able to donate a bunch to the library at the NYU Medical Center and/or Ronald McDonald House.

So, if you wish to donate some of your music or your DVD, shoot me an email (you can click the title of this post and then click the little envelope icon at the top of our website) and I'll give our address.  Our next trip to NYU is on October 2oth, and our Ronald McDonald concert is in December 4th.   

Many of the kids we've visited over the years don't get the chance to go to concerts and most parents are too busy dealing with the illness that they don't even know what great music there is out there for kids (indie music, anyway).

I hope this works out.  I realize that as performers, we get many requests for donations and for free performances, so don't feel pressure.

PRINCESS KATIE & RACER STEVE @ Central Park Pumpkin Festival!

Sure, it's early!  But isn't it creepily fun?  

Princess Katie & Racer Steve have been invited to kick off  the Central Park Pumpkin Festival once again this year!  Very spooky and very exciting!

Let me tell you what happens:  you visit a spooktacular haunted house, see the 5-story tower of jack-o-lanterns, you visit the famous pumpkin patch and take home a gorgeous pumpkin, you see tons of kids dressed up and hear lots of live music in the bandshell!  This is a free event and open to all - ghosts, witches, vampires, racers, princesses and anything else!

Princess Katie & Racer Steve perform at 3 pm at the beginning of the event, so mark your calendars.  Festival is located at the bandshell (enter park at 72nd on East Side) and goes beyond!

And that's not all!  On Halloween night, PKRS will be performing at the Special Target Free Halloween Event at the Children's Museum of Manhattan for two shows!  

They'll be food, arts & crafts, live music by Princess Katie & Racer Steve and it's all free!  The event runs from 5 pm - 8 pm!  Great, safe place for the kids to go on Halloween night!
